Description
The Temple of San Marcos is one of the most representative symbols of the city and of the traditional San Marcos neighborhood, the cultural heart of the famous San Marcos National Fair. Its construction began around the year 1655, and due to the different stages of its development, the temple combines Baroque and Neoclassical architectural elements that give it a unique beauty and great historical value.
Its quarry stone façade stands out for its Baroque details and elegant bell tower, while inside,
visitors can appreciate a solemn and welcoming atmosphere, with altars, stained glass windows,
and architecture that reflects centuries of religious and cultural tradition.
The temple is dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Mark the Evangelist,
the patron saint who gives his name to the emblematic neighborhood and to the most important fair in Mexico.
Located in front of the traditional San Marcos Garden,
this landmark is one of the most visited sites by tourists and locals alike,
especially during the San Marcos National Fair, when it becomes a gathering point full of history, tradition,
