Museo Espacio has its origins in the transformation of the former “Tres Centurias” railway complex, an urban revitalization project in Aguascalientes. The idea of creating a space dedicated to contemporary art emerged as part of the renewal of this historic area, with the aim of preserving its industrial heritage and repurposing it for cultural use open to the public.
The museum opened in 2018 as a state-run contemporary art center, quickly establishing itself as one of the region’s most important cultural spaces. Its design repurposes former industrial warehouses, adapting them to host modern exhibitions while preserving the original architectural essence of the railway site.
Since its opening, Museo Espacio has sought to bring contemporary art closer to the public through national and international exhibitions, artist residencies, and educational activities. Its creation marked a pivotal moment in the cultural revitalization of Aguascalientes, establishing it as a key reference point for modern art in central Mexico.
Museo Espacio generally opens from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
