The San Antonio El Pedernal Hacienda is one of the most important historic structures in the municipality of Jesús María and forms part of the historic Camino Real de Tierra Adentro Route, one of the most important trade routes of Mexico’s colonial era. The hacienda stands out for its distinctive defensive architecture, an uncommon feature in the region, preserving original elements such as a watchtower and several lookout openings that reflect the need to protect rural estates in past centuries.
