History

The history of the Parish of Our Lady of Bethlehem dates back to the early years of mining development in Real de Asientos during the colonial period. As the population grew and mining became increasingly important to the local economy, the need arose for a church that could provide spiritual support to the residents and workers of the region. Construction of the parish began between the 17th and 18th centuries, using quarry stone and materials characteristic of colonial architecture.

For many years, the church was one of the main religious centers in northern Aguascalientes. Religious services, patron saint festivities, and community gatherings were held there and formed an important part of everyday life in the town. Thanks to contributions from miners and local families, the parish was able to preserve works of art, altars, and architectural details of great historical value.

Today, the parish is considered one of the most representative landmarks of Real de Asientos and a symbol of the municipality’s colonial and religious heritage.
