The history of the National Museum of Magical Towns (MUNPUMA) in Calvillo began as a cultural initiative to preserve and showcase the richness of Mexico’s “Magical Towns.” The museum opened on September 12, 2019, with the aim of safeguarding artifacts, traditions, gastronomy, and artistic expressions representative of these localities across the country.
From its inception, the project was conceived as a unique space in the country, dedicated exclusively to bringing together the heritage of the *Pueblos Mágicos* (Magical Towns). To this end, a building in downtown Calvillo—which already housed cultural spaces—was adapted and transformed into a modern museum featuring thematic galleries that showcase Mexico’s cultural diversity.
