The Jesús María House of Music is one of the municipality’s most important cultural projects and a space dedicated to the artistic training of children and young people through music, singing, and various cultural disciplines. Inaugurated in November 2014, this institution was founded with the aim of fostering artistic talent, strengthening community values, and providing opportunities for holistic development through music education.
This venue houses the Jesús María Children’s and Youth Symphony Orchestra and Choir, and also offers workshops in musical instruments, choir, piano, guitar, theater, painting, and other artistic activities. Due to the community’s great interest, the project has grown and now has more than one location to serve a larger number of students.
One of the most distinctive elements of the building is the mural created by the artist Jesús Capetillo Cervantes “Chunga”, where the tradition represented by the Chicahual and the talent of the new generations of musicians are fused, symbolizing the union between popular culture and the contemporary artistic development of Jesús María.
The story of the Jesús María House of Music began as a cultural project aimed at providing artistic training opportunities for children and young people in the municipality. With the vision of fostering local talent through music education, the Municipal Government promoted the creation of a specialized space where new generations could develop musical, artistic, and personal skills.
Due to the steady growth in enrollment and the program’s success, a second phase of facility expansion was completed in July 2017, increasing its capacity to serve approximately 500 students. This expansion strengthened music education and broadened the cultural offerings for the municipality’s residents.
In November 2014, the House of Music was officially inaugurated, becoming the home of the Jesús María Children’s and Youth Symphony Orchestra and Choir. From its inception, the project received an excellent response from the community, successfully integrating hundreds of students interested in learning musical instruments, singing, and various artistic disciplines.
