The Plaza Monumental de Toros de Aguascalientes is one of the most important bullfighting venues in Mexico and a symbol of the state’s cultural tradition. Located in the city of Aguascalientes, it is part of the fairgrounds for the National San Marcos Fair, one of the country’s largest events.

History
The Plaza Monumental de Toros in Aguascalientes was inaugurated in 1974 with the aim of providing a modern, high-capacity venue for bullfighting events in the city. Its construction was driven by Aguascalientes’ strong bullfighting tradition and the need for a suitable space for the bullfights held during the National San Marcos Fair, one of Mexico’s most important festivals.
Since its opening, the arena has become one of the country’s premier venues for bullfighting, hosting renowned national and international matadors. Over the years, it has also been used for cultural and musical events as well as large-scale spectacles, expanding its role beyond bullfighting.
The Plaza Monumental has undergone renovations on several occasions to improve its infrastructure, safety, and audience comfort. Today, it stands as a symbol of bullfighting tradition and a key hub of cultural and festive life in Aguascalientes.
Schedule
The Aguascalientes Monumental Bullring does not have fixed daily visiting hours, as its use depends on scheduled events—primarily during the San Marcos National Fair. Exterior of the bullring: it can be viewed during the day, although access to the interior is restricted outside of events.
